In this article I’ll be covering the basic description of the basic Windows 10 features that I use for studying for the MCA exam.
Cortana Integration
Cortana is your very own personal assistant. You can type in or ask Cortana a Question and it will seek out the best possible answer based on your question.
Secure Boot
This is the ability to securely boot the operation system. Secure Boot validates all drivers on operating system components before they are loaded against the signature database.
Virtual Smart Cards
This is a new way to do 2FA with virtual smart cards. These use TPM devices that allow for the same capabilities as physical smart cards with physical hardware.
Miracast
This allows you to project laptops or mobile devices to a projector or television. You can do this through an external device through the use of a mobile wireless display adapter (WiDi).
Hyper-V
This is built into the OS. This is microsoft’s version of a virtual server.
Enterprise Data protection
Protects corporate data from BYOD for instance. Helps protect information by separating corporate information from personal information.
Device Guard
A feature that helps guarantee that only trusted application will run on any of these devices. Uses both hardware and software to lock down a device to only trusted and approved application.
Microsoft Passport/ Windows hello
Windows Hello is a biometrics’ system integrated into the OS and uses a piece of the user’s authentication. Microsoft Passport allows users to use 2FA that combines Pin or Biometrics with an encrypted key.
Domain join and Group policy
Administrators have the ability to join clients to either a corporate version of AD or a cloud based version of Azure AD.
Mobile Device management
MDM allows administrators to set up Windows 10 polivites that can integrate corporate scenarios, including the ability to control users’ access to the Windows Store and the ability to use corporate VPN. MDM also allows administrators to manage users who have accounts set up in Azure AD. MDM support is based on OMA and DM.
Other important about Windows 10 installation
BIOS compatibility: before installing Windows 10 it’s important to make sure it supports advanced configration and power insterface functionality (ACPI).
